Hwangseong
Born in Cheongsong in 1954, he moved to Busan in 1962. In 1976, he studied under Kang Su-Cheol (강수철), and eventually debuted in 1976 with Neoguri Hyeongnim (너구리 형님, Raccoon Brother). For two years, he was the bass player for an unknown band at a nightclub. He studied martial arts manhwa under Lee Jae-Hak (이재학) and Kim Cheol-Ho (김철호) and in 1986 started producing martial arts manhwa in earnest with the help of Hwang Jae (황재). In 1989, he temporarily suspended his martial arts manhwa career and focused on ancient Western mythology, but returned to martial arts in 1993.
